Quire turns manuscripts into print-ready books. It's run by Happy Heart Software at quire.happyheartsoftware.com and is invite-only. This page explains what Quire keeps about you and why.
What Quire keeps
- Your account: your name and email address, and your role and access dates, which the person who invited you sets. If you sign in with Google, Quire receives your name, email address and profile picture from Google. It gets nothing else from your Google account.
- Your books: the manuscripts, chapters, images and settings you add, earlier versions of your chapters, and the PDF and EPUB files Quire builds for you.
- A change history: who changed what and when, so mistakes can be traced and undone.
- Backups: a copy of everything, made each night. Backups are kept for 14 days.
What Quire uses it for
Quire uses this information only to run Quire. That means letting you sign in, keeping and building your books, and emailing admins and managers when someone's access is about to end. Quire doesn't sell your information, show ads or use tracking or analytics cookies. The only cookies it sets are the ones that keep you signed in.
Who else handles it
Quire relies on a few services, each of which handles your information only to provide its part of the service:
- Clerk handles sign-in and stores your account details.
- Vercel hosts Quire and stores your books and backups.
- Resend sends Quire's emails.
- Google handles sign-in if you choose "Continue with Google." It also supplies a document if you import one from Google Docs using a link.
Your choices
You can delete your books in Quire at any time. Deleted books disappear from backups within 14 days. To have your account and everything in it removed, or to ask what Quire holds about you, email seth.gayheart@happyheartsoftware.com.
Changes
